Equal Access to Capacity Building Opportunities Policy

Date: February 2023

Overview

  • At Skills House (the Company, our, we or us), we are committed to providing equal access to capacity-building opportunities, such as training and research projects, to individuals of all backgrounds and identities. We recognize that certain groups, such as women, refugees, people with disadvantaged backgrounds and vulnerable populations, may face systemic barriers to accessing such opportunities. We are committed to taking proactive measures to ensure that these groups are adequately represented in our capacity-building programs.

Scope

  • This Policy and the rules contained in it, therefore, apply to all of our capacity-building programs, including training and research projects.

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Skills House strives to reach out to a diverse range of individuals and groups to ensure that our capacity-building opportunities are widely accessible. This includes partnering with community organizations, NGOs and International NGOs to promote our programs to individuals from diverse backgrounds. In our recruitment efforts, we prioritize reaching out to women, refugees, people with disadvantaged backgrounds and vulnerable populations to encourage their participation in our programs.

Fair Selection Process

  • We ensure that the selection process for our capacity-building programs is fair and unbiased. Our selection criteria are designed to evaluate candidates based on their qualifications and potential, rather than any factors related to their gender, ethnicity, religion, color or socio-economic status. We use blind review processes to ensure that any implicit biases are minimized.

Gender and Diversity Ratios

  • We track the gender and diversity ratios of participants in our capacity-building programs and work to ensure that they reflect the demographics of the communities in which we operate. We strive to achieve a fair representation of women, refugees, people with disadvantaged backgrounds and vulnerable populations in our programs, ensuring that no individual or group is excluded due to systemic barriers.

Support and Accommodation

  • We provide support and accommodations to individuals who may face additional barriers to accessing our capacity-building programs. This may include providing translation services or other accommodations to ensure that our programs are accessible to individuals who may face additional barriers to participation.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • We regularly monitor and evaluate our capacity-building programs to ensure that they are meeting our goals for gender and diversity representation. We track the demographics of participants, evaluate the effectiveness of our outreach and recruitment efforts, and make adjustments to our programs as needed to ensure that we are providing equal access to all.

Compliance

  • We comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to non-discrimination and equal access to opportunity. We regularly review our Policy to ensure that it remains up-to-date and effective.
  • By following these guidelines, we ensure that our capacity-building programs are accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and identities, and that we are providing equal access to opportunity for women, refugees, people with disadvantaged backgrounds and vulnerable populations. We believe that by prioritizing diversity and inclusion in our programs, we can help to build a more equitable and just society.
